Student Achievement Award ($1,000 Fellowship)
Eligibility
The 2027 competition is open to students of all ages enrolled in voice lessons with voice teachers in Buffalo area. Applicants should be nominated by their voice teachers.
Repertoire List for the Competition
Select two contrasting pieces, either songs or arias, and include the title and composer for each. Both pieces must be performed from memory. This is your opportunity to showcase your strengths in tone and vocal technique, musicality and expression, language and diction, as well as communication, interpretation, and theatrical presentation. Choose pieces that best represent you as an artist and demonstrate your achievements in singing.
Application
On the application form, in addition to listing your chosen repertoire, you will be asked to describe the steps you have taken to develop your current level of vocal ability and to explain how you would use a $1,000 award to further enhance your vocal skills and artistic growth. Be specific in outlining how the funds would be used—for example: "I will take 10 lessons with my current voice teacher at $50 per session to prepare for college auditions and scholarship competitions, use $250 to travel to auditions or conferences to expand my knowledge of singing, and allocate $250 to purchase a professional outfit for performances."
